The Irish Food Report #7
Artybaker Bagels, Kimmage, Dublin
Moss Lane, City Centre, Dublin
Hanoi Hanoi, City Centre, Dublin
This week I enjoyed Dublin’s best bagels, visited a city centre pub serving the best pizza in Dublin (?), and had delicious pho in Vietnamese spot in the heart of the city.

There are two locations in Kimmage run by Artybaker: their main café and bakery, and their bagel shop on the other side of the road. I popped my head into the main bakery and café to nose at the amazing selection of pastries and cakes, but it was a bagel I was really after.
The shop is small but with it has outdoor seating, and thankfully it was another great Sunday in Dublin when I visited. I asked the girl serving me to order for us. She suggested a salmon and cream cheese on an everything bagel, and a turkey club on an everything bagel. Her choices were spot on.
I’m not a huge bagel connoisseur, but I’ve tried a few around Dublin and Artybaker’s are the best I’ve had. Enjoying two bagels in the sunshine with some coffee, as locals and their dogs enjoyed the weather with coffee and pastries, was a perfect Sunday lunch.

I found myself passing Moss Lane during lunch time. There was a good crowd outside enjoying drinks in the sun, so I poked my head in to see their food menu. This is a charming pub right across from Trinity, and a few door’s up from the famous Bread 41 bakery. This was my first time in Moss Lane and the atmosphere inside was exactly what you want from pub in the city during the day: happy people enjoying a few drinks and eating good food, with the staff having the craic behind the bar while serving.
It’s not often you see a good Dublin pub serving an Italian food menu, but when I saw some pizzas and sandwiches come out of the kitchen I had to stay and try one for myself. We had a carbonara pasta and a “hot sweet pepp” pizza with pepperoni, sweet peppers, and hot honey.
The pasta was great but the pizza was especially good. It was one of the better pizzas I can remember having in Dublin, and with so much competition for Dublin’s best pizza around, Moss Lane are staking a claim.
Hanoi Hanoi - Delicious Vietnamese food on Capel Street

On a busy weeknight we chanced our arm for a walk in at Hanoi Hanoi for a pre-theatre dinner and were lucky to get squeezed in. The room was full and the tables were a mix of college students, tourists, and young couples. It was great to see such a good atmosphere in a city centre restaurant on a week night.
The service was excellent and relaxed. We were both craving pho, and we both went for the beef brisket pho. The broth was so full of flavour, the soft beef perfectly cooked, and the vegetables really fresh. This was a comforting bowl packed with the perfect mix of umami comfort and zesty zing. Exactly what we wanted.
Capel Street has so many great asian restaurants and Hanoi Hanoi is one of them.
